2006 WRC Classic Lions 36 - NZ 5

The Classic Lions went out to a 17 - 0 to start the match, then never looked back.

Producing fast-paced, flowing rugby of an extremely high calibre, the Lions annihilated the All Blacks in the first semi on yet another chilly and rainy night at the National Sports Centre, running out winners by 36-5 and dominating their southern hemisphere rivals in all departments of the game.

The Classic Lions went ahead 5-0 in the 10th minute when Torquil Mathenson scored, seven minutes later it was 10 - 0, Mark Blair scored a try. Derek McGleece made it 15 - 0 to the Classic Lions, and Dave Sally kicked the conversion to make the score 17 - 0. Paul Simonson scored for New Zealand to make the score 17 - 5.

Classic Lions scored again through John Audley, to make the score 24 - 5, Brad Hopi added a try for the Classic Lions to make the score 31 - 5 and Tyrone Howe scored in the final minute for the Classic Lions to make the final score 36 - 5.

The Lions move on to the final Saturday night.

New Zealand v. Classic Lions Game Postponed

The Bermuda weather service issued a Gale Warning, leaving the organizers of the World Rugby Classic with no choice but to cancel the second match of the night.

In game one France advanced to the Plate Final by defeating Argentina 26 - 0, but with an intensifying low pressure system to our west the forecasters felt it will continue to deepen rapidly. Forecasters said local conditions will continue to deteriorate, with gusty winds and occasionally heavy showers, and rain tonight and early tomarrow.

The game will be played this evening.
